A Better Applicator Through Better Design
Whether you’re seeding or applying herbicide, a Valmar 245 Granular Applicator is designed to deliver unparalleled accuracy under a wide variety of ground conditions. Available in both a Truck-Mount and a Pull-Type model, the 245’s rugged construction is sturdy enough to withstand the rigours of commercial use, making it the right choice for a rental fleet, custom applicator or a farm operation. Moreover, the 245 incorporates a number of innovative features designed to make material application easier, safer and more precise than ever before.

Exceptionally Accurate Metering System
The 245 applicator achieves its accuracy thanks to a ground driven metering system that ensures an accurate application rate regardless of ground speed. It uses a 60 speed gear box that allows the application rate to be increased or decreased in increments of 5%. Drive ratio changes can be made at the gear box, eliminating the need to move chains and realign sprockets. For cropping conditions that require a rate change on the go, an optional Alternate Rate Kit can be added to allow an instantaneous rate change on the go.

• Metering Roller

Greater, More Uniform Coverage
The 245’s wide 50 foot boom and large 40 cubic foot hopper (capable of holding up to 1,800 pounds of product at a density of 45 pounds per cubic foot) allows you to cover more acres between fills. Equally important, the self-levelling boom ensures a uniform spread pattern, regardless of field conditions. For safety, the boom also features 8 foot breakaway tips to help minimize damage that may occur from striking an obstacle in the field.

Easier Calibration
•Calibrating an applicator is necessary to ensure proper flow rates, especially when trying to calculate the correct setting for new products, seed or seed mixtures. The 245 Applicator makes this process easier by allowing the venturi and manifold system to be dropped so that a funnel tray can be inserted for easy collection of product. Use the crank handle (provided) to simulate ground travel and establish precise calibration for any product. The funnel also makes emptying the hopper an easy and safe procedure.

Easier Maintenance And Cleaning
•The 245 applicators feature a number of innovations that make maintenance and cleaning easier. One important feature is the convenient hopper bottom slide gates which allow the rollers to be removed for cleaning or inspection without draining product from the hopper. Access to the rollers and venturi system is also easier due to moveable plexi-glass shields which protect the metering system.

Features For Easier Operation
•Valmar’s 245 applicator includes a number of handy features that assist operation. For a quick visual check of product level in the hopper the 245 features a plexi-glass sight gauge. Plexi-glass shields also allow visual monitoring of the metering system. Accurate metering of even the lowest rates of granular herbicides and small seeds is possible thanks to the 28 groove metering rollers which come as standard equipment. The 245 also features a manifold pressure gauge to ensure an adequate air flow for even product distribution. Finally, a warning light and buzzer are included on the in-cab control box to alert the operator of any problem with the air supply.

• Dual pulley system allows operation with 540 or 1000 R.P.M.
OTHER FEATURES
Three Fan Drives Available On Pull-Type Model
•To accommodate today’s wide variety of application practices, three different fan drives are available on the 245 Pull-Type model (the Truck-Mount model is only equipped with the gas engine fan drive described below).

P.T.O. Fan Drive
•Comes as standard equipment with a 540 R.P.M. drive line. Also, this drive’s dual pulley system on the gear box allows the operator to use the unit with a 1000 R.P.M. power take-off equipped tractor.

Hydraulic Fan Drive
•This popular drive uses an orbital hydraulic motor and a belt driven fan to supply the required air flow. Requires minimum 10.5 gals/min.

Gas Engine Fan Drive
•Equipped with a centrifugal clutch for easy starting, this drive is ideal for those needing complete flexibility when hitching their Pull-Type to equipment lacking suitable hydraulics or P.T.O. options, and it can also allow the Pull- Type to be used with a properly equipped truck. This is the standard fan drive on the 245 Truck-Mount.
